A week ago James and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary! Time has sure flown by, and when I think of where we have lived, traveled to, and the things we’ve accomplished in that short time I am amazed! God has certainly blessed us and we are so thankful.
We decided to take a little anniversary trip to Nashville, TN. We both had only visited the city in passing, so we’d never really gotten to be full-fledged tourists in Music City, U.S.A. I was really hoping to casually run into maybe Taylor Swift, Michael W. Smith, Nicole Kidman, or even Dave Ramsey… but it didn’t happen. :-(
It just so happened that the Showit (the company my main website is through) Freedom Tour was in town one of the days we were there, so we were able to hear from some amazing entrepreneurs and fellow photographers. I of course, took a lot of pictures on the trip and would love to share some with you!
A trip is not complete for me without some snacks for the car ride…
One of our first stops was at the Country Music Hall of Fame. I feel super country now.
One of Elvis’ cars…
And his gold piano…
This dress was worn by Carrie Underwood for a performance. Talk about a train! I mean, how do you even walk in that?
Song lyrics written by Hank Williams Jr.
After we hit up the Hall of Fame we spend a good bit of time walking around downtown Nashville. In the picture on the right you can see the CMT (Country Music Television) building in the background.
I’ve never actually gone line dancing, but I got to learn a whole routine at the Wildhorse Saloon! It was rather fun. :-)
I used Priceline’s “Name your own price” feature to get an extremely good deal on a hotel. We had never done that before, but were quite pleased with the results. I was even more pleased when I found out that since we have stayed with the particular chain so frequently we had access to the lounge with free food!! Holla!!!!
In all of the touristy materials that I read I kept seeing the Loveless Cafe, so we decided to check it out. We went on a Friday at lunch and it was jam-packed! It’s an old motel that has been converted into a restaurant and is surrounded by little shops where you can buy trinkets and homemade jams. They serve fried chicken, pulled pork, fish, and the most delicious hash brown casserole I have ever tasted. The cafe is famous for their biscuits and I can now say that I understand why! I’m pretty sure I ate about 6 of them…
The Loveless Cafe is located a bit outside of the city, so while we were in the country we decided to go for a drive and enjoy the beautiful views.
We spotted a creek as we were driving along and had to hop out and go wading!
My handsome hubby…
Before we headed out of town we had planned to stop by the Pancake Pantry for a bite to eat. We didn’t realize just how busy they would be on a Saturday!
We were a little too hungry to wait in that line, so we headed down the street to a chicken place called McDougal’s. I wouldn’t have even known about the eatery, being located off of the main drag if it weren’t for a friend suggesting it. (Thanks Jackie!) We enjoyed trying the many different sauces that they had to offer.
We really enjoyed our trip, and definitely plan to visit Nashville again in the future. Next time we’ll be sure to visit the Pancake Pantry on a weekday!
