I hadn’t planned on taking a few weeks off from the blog, but turns out, it’s been really good for me. Minus replying to emails a couple times a week, I allowed myself to truly take a rest from work this past month and focus on family. I already feel like Jack is growing up way too fast and I want to make sure I don’t miss a moment, especially in these early days! He’s gotten so much bigger (and longer) in the past couple of weeks and I was so sad when I had to pack up his newborn clothes. I realize just how true it is when people say that this stage of life passes by so quickly!
In the month of April my main focus was obviously being a good Momma to Jack. We got out of the house here and there (to church on Sundays, grocery shopping once a week, walks around the neighborhood, etc.), but primarily stayed at home and focused on getting in a routine and making sure we both got much needed rest. :-) We saw big changes in Jack each week, especially in the past couple of weeks as he has become more and more alert during his awake times! We celebrated him turning a month old at the beginning of April, and by about 7 weeks of age we began to see his first smiles which sure was fun! Another exciting thing for the month was Jack getting to meet his other set of grandparents (James’ folks). They came to visit towards the end of the month and we enjoyed getting to watch them with their new grandson.
When we took our 3 x 12 photo Jack was more interested in chewing on his hands than looking at the camera, but hey, he’ll be getting plenty of camera time throughout his life to practice showing off his handsome self!
P.S.- The day we took this pic was the first time Jack wore a pair of shoes. Pretty notable day if you ask me. ;-)
