March was a fun month for us. It marked the end of our first year as parents– a year where we learned so much and loved so much. We celebrated Jack’s 1st Birthday nautical style, with a few of our family and friends, and it was definitely the highlight of our month!
At 12 months old Jack loves to eat his finger foods, participate in speed crawling, and gets into EVERYTHING. We finally busted out the cabinet locks, which have come in super handy. We have a couple of baby gates up as well to keep the boy contained in the main living area, and that has allowed me to get things done during the day while he plays and explores. Speaking of playing, Jack has gotten really good at having nice periods of independent playtime throughout the day. I say “periods” because he will entertain himself for 20 minutes here, then neeeeeeeed his Mama to be near him the next 20 minutes. Something that I totally do not mind!
He loves going outside, so we took lots of walks during the month, went to the playground, and crawled around in the grass. Still no walking yet, so going outside to play has required wearing pants to avoid little legs getting scraped up (the grass is rather prickly right now and he also likes to deviate to the pavement). He had several play dates with his some of his baby friends, which I could just watch all day long. I LOVE watching him interact with other kids. SOOOOO cute!
Other fun memories from this month were my cousins coming to visit as they passed through town, James’ sister and her family coming to visit during Jack’s birthday weekend, spending a beautiful Spring day on the beach in Hilton Head with friends, and hiking at Skidaway Island for the first time. All in all, it was a great month!
Our 3×12 Project photo for March was taken during Jack’s birthday party, hence the sailor outfit. He was practicing his new skill of clapping while the photo was taken. :-)
