3×12 Project: May 2013

Another month of being a mom has come and gone, and I am having more and more fun with each passing day! It’s crazy how simply getting those huge, toothless smiles from Jack make me forget just how sick I was throughout my pregnancy and how tired I was that first month after he was born! May was a great month for us, with a lot of celebrations and visitors in it. Here’s a look at what went on…

  • Had a visit from James’ sister, Heidi, and our niece and nephew, who we had not seen in a while. It was so fun to hang out with them and see them love on baby Jack!
  • Leah, my friend-since-Kindergarten, and her son, Sam, came for a visit as well! It was a blast getting to watch her be a mom (which she is great at) and spend time with those two.
  • My cousin, Ryan, came by to meet Jack when he was on town on business. Hadn’t seen him in a while and it was great to catch up!
  • Celebrated my first Mother’s Day! Need I say more?
  • On Mother’s Day we also got to be a part of a Baby Dedication ceremony at our church with Jack. Our church does not perform infant baptisms, but rather gives parents an opportunity to commit to God and their church family that they will raise their child in a godly home, teaching them God’s Word and leading by example, until one day they are able to make the decision on their own to accept Jesus as their Savior. That was such a special day!
  • May is my birthday month, and this time around I turned 28! We kept the celebration pretty low key this year, considering I had already gotten the best gift of all a couple months earlier. :-) James did, however, cook the MOST delicious dinner for me and I got my picture next to an 11 ft. 6 in. alligator during our evening walk that day. Pretty exciting if you ask me!
  • And perhaps the best thing of all– Jack has been sleeping through the night!!! Sure, we have an off night here or there, but for the most part he sleeps 10-11 hours straight each night! It took a lot of patience and consistency on our part, with no crying-it-out involved (not saying we are against CIO, but thankfully we did not have to resort to it). This makes for a much happier  and well-rested Mama who doesn’t have to plaster on a load of make-up to appear awake!

This month’s photo shows a typical day in our house right now… Daddy reading to Jack in the rocking chair while Jack is more interested in the ceiling light (in other rooms it’s the ceiling fan that captures his attention). :-)
