August was such an exciting month for our family because it is when we added our newest member, Joshua Daniel! You can read more about his birth and see lots of cute photos here. :-)
This month was a fun one for our family, yet also a very tiring one, as expected. It was so exciting to finally have Josh join our family and watch Jack begin to take on a big brother role. Granted, it hasn’t been easy so far to figure out how to give the needed attention to both boys, but we are learning. James was blessed to be on paternity leave for two weeks, which was SO helpful. My mom also got to come and stay with us the first week after Josh’s birth, and then James’ mom came the second week. Having three adults in the house allowed for Jack to get a lot of one-on-one time with someone, Josh’s needs to be taken care of, the house kept tidy, and food in our mouths. I’d say that is a win!
When it was time for everyone to leave and I was by myself with the boys, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I knew we would eventually get into a routine, but didn’t know how long that would take. I was excited to start figuring out how to care for both kiddos on my own. I’m not gonna lie, we have had our good days and our bad days so far. I think the hardest part for me is having one child upset/crying while I fulfill a need for the other child. I know they will learn to be patient as time goes on, but it’s not easy!
