Trip to Orlando

A week ago James and I returned from a trip to Orlando, FL where we got to visit his sister, Heidi and her family and do several family photo shoots. James’ parents also happened to be in town while we were there, so we had a fun group to hang out with. As I mentioned in this post, we had the opportunity to visit Disney World for a couple of days during our trip and made the rounds through all four parks! With Heidi as our tour guide, we saw the best places in the parks and never had to worry about following a map! It was nice.

Our first evening in town we spent at the Boardwalk. We had to stop in for a quick snack at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, located at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. Delicious!

Two of our precious nieces and nephews (we have 5 total)…

Our wonderful hostess and tour guide, Heidi. :-)

On Day 2 we visited Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. Apparently this park employee wanted his picture taken as well…

Inside the gates of Animal Kingdom. I was so excited to visit this park first and get to go on the Safari!

This baby giraffe came up super close to the vehicle. She was soooo cute– I wanted to take her home with me!

The Finding Nemo Musical was amazing!

We also loved the Festival of the Lion King show. So awesome.

We didn’t spend too much time waiting in line to get character pictures, but we had to get at least one with good ‘ol Mickey Mouse.

On day 3 we visited Epcot and the Magic Kingdom. Instead of carrying around one of my digital SLR camera bodies, I decided to try out my new Panasonic DMC-LX3 point-and-shoot for the day. I think it did a great job! While it was a little too big to fit in my pocket as I had initially hoped, the nice leather strap that it came with made it easy to carry around and wear across my body, allowing me to look like the lovely tourist that I was. ;-)

Sampling pop from around the world was one of my favorite things to do. My top pick was Mozambique’s version of Ginger Ale. Worst? The drink from Italy. Grosser than gross!

When we arrived at the Magic Kingdom the parade was going on, so we followed it down the street and joined in on the action.

Although I didn’t take pictures at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival, we went on opening night (runs Oct. 1- Nov. 14) and I would highly recommend it. They have over 25 kiosks set up where you can try food and drinks from all over the world! We had a great time throughout our whole visit to Orlando and can’t wait to go back again! James has promised me that next time he will try out for the American Idol show in Hollywood Studios. ;-) Later this week I’ll be sharing photos from our family shoots on Day 4 & 5.

P.S.- No, James and I did not plan for both of us to wear neon shirts that day… but at least we were easy to find!

Ha! I tried “Beverly” soda while visiting the World of Coke down in Atlanta, GA. It was definitely the grossest of anything I tried. I can’t believe people actually pay for that!

Looks like you had a great trip! Beautiful weather and beautiful photos!
