I am sure many of you, like myself, have been watching the events in Japan unfold over the past week. Seeing videos on YouTube and reading the front page news each day can make the situation seem surreal. While my thoughts and prayers have been going out to the people of Japan I have felt like there has to be more that I can do. And there is. Here are the two ways to help that I have chosen to do right now. I invite you to join me.

Shelter Box, an international disaster relief charity that delivers emergency shelter, has been delivering boxes of aid to the people of Japan for the past several days. Each box supplies an extended family of up to 10 people with a tent and essential equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless. If you’d like to help donate towards this effort and meet a tangible need, you can do so by checking out For Japan With Love and clicking the link to donate in the upper right hand corner.

BLOGGERS DAY OF SILENCE

If you have a blog of any kind, you can help out with this. On Friday, March 18 (tomorrow), don’t post anything on your blog. Let your readers know beforehand why you are doing this. Tweet and re-tweet http://www.forjapanwithlove.com. Encourage your readers to donate to provide shelter for all of the homeless in Japan. It’s that simple.
