I remember the first the time I emailed another photographer and asked her a question about how she ran her business. It was someone I admire and is also rather well known in the industry. At the time I barely knew any other photographers at all, so the best way I knew to get a question answered was to contact someone I didn’t know. I had just started my business and was super nervous that she might think I was silly for asking, or look at my work and think it wasn’t very good. Despite my fears, she answered almost immediately and was very helpful. It was my first taste of what things should be like between photographers.

Since then I’ve met so many amazing photographers and built friendships with several that I’d go on a road trip with or invite over for dinner. We talk about our businesses, about nerdy photography stuff, and about our lives in general. I’ve also had the opportunity to join an online community of photographers that share, help, and encourage one another. I’m so thankful for that.

Every month I receive a handful of emails from various people asking questions about photography and running a photography business. I work to answer each question to the best of my ability, because I have received so much help and advice from others myself. I figure if one or two people are asking me the same question, there probably are more out there wondering the same things, which is why I thought it might be helpful if I answer some of those questions here on the blog!

I want to invite you send any photography or photography business related questions my way, no matter how silly or lame you might think them to be!!! Don’t be scurrrred! Whether it’s just a hobby for you or you’re working to start your own business, I’d love to help you out. And like I said– if you’re wondering about it, there’s probably others wondering about it as well. I’m not claiming by any means to know everything about photography or running a business (not even close), but I will do my best to answer you question(s) in a way that will be helpful for you. I know a lot of photographers don’t like to share or help others, but that’s not how I roll. :-)

On another note, after patiently waiting for Android to jump on the bandwagon, I FINALLY GOT INSTAGRAM THIS WEEK!!! Yes, I’m rather excited.
