2 x 12 Project: June 2012

This month officially marked the start of my busy season for this year and also marked the time of year when I can actually be tan for a few months! The weather has been back and forth throughout the month, but one thing has remained the same– barely any rain. It’s been so dry that the grass is turning brown and the farmers around us are becoming concerned about their crops (we live in the country if you can’t tell). This is usually the time of year when I like to say to James in a country accent, “Corn’s a-growin’!,” but if we don’t get some rain soon we won’t have much corn (or other crops for that matter)!

This week has been the hottest week ever. Like in the history of the earth. Yesterday the high was 105 degrees. DEGREES I said. Fortunately for me, that’s the kind of heat it takes to get pool water to the temperature I like it, so I spent the afternoon lounging on a raft. In a pool of course. Bad part is, I forgot to put on sunscreen (I know, I know, Mom), so today I’m feeling a little toasty. :-)

Here’s a look at what went down this month:

  • Went camping for a few days at Patoka Lake
  • Shot 3 weddings (one is tomorrow) and a couple of sessions
  • Volunteered at Vacation Bible School at our church
  • Started playing ultimate frisbee once a week with friends and realized just how out of shape I am
  • Celebrated with a couple of graduating seniors and a friend’s birthday
  • Remembered to mail my estimated income taxes (pretty proud of myself for that one)
  • Had some bonfires in the backyard, hung out with friends, watched softball games, and ate ice cream at Mrs. Curl :-)
I really do just love summer. Especially summer nights. The other day it was really breezy and for a split second it felt like it was becoming Fall. I got excited, but then I realized I’m not done having summer fun just yet.

If you’re new to my 2×12 Project, you can check out the deets here. Happy Weekend!
