I’m so excited that I FINALLY get to change the name of this personal photo project from “2 x 12” to “3 x 12!” (In case you don’t know what it means, it’s the number of people in our family, then 12 months in a year– each month I take a photo that represents what’s going on in our lives that month). Thanks to the addition of Jack, we are now a family of 3!!! (Well, technically 6 when you count the cats, but we’ll just keep it to people for this project).
There’s obviously a lot of changes that happened for us this month, but outside of giving birth, living in “survival” mode, having my parents come help out, and learning to be a mom, I didn’t too much else (not that I had the time or energy to). The month passed by quickly for me (Jack is 4 weeks as of yesterday), and I am finally at a point where I am feeling rested– imagine that! Not getting my hopes up that this will happen every night, but I got close to 8 hours sleep last night, so today I feel like a new woman! Jack has been a great sleeper at night (which I am oh so thankful for), but I realize this may change at any time, so I’m enjoying it while it lasts!
I’m also thankful that James got to spend a couple of weeks at home while we adjusted to our new life. He has been so helpful to Jack and I, and probably thinks I’m crazy for the amount of times I’ve asked him to adjust the temperature– that’s hormones for ya! There were a few nights where if I didn’t know any better, I would have sworn he was drunk watching him stumble around to turn on the fan, turn off the fan, get me a blanket, get me an ice water, get me a snack, change a diaper, or whatever else I needed while I was nursing! Poor guy. Thankfully my body has adjusted, I’ve learned to better prepare for the night, and James is able to get some much needed sleep now that he’s back to work. :-)
For those of you that thought that our first 3 x 12 photo would be one of us smiling and looking at our baby with loving eyes– well, that’s coming. I promise! But in an effort to be real at how this month really went, I thought this photo was MUCH more appropriate to describe our lives in the month of March…
Here’s to looking forward to April and more sleep!
