Ok ya’ll, running a little behind on this post, but here goes!
August was a HAWT month. Oh my goodness. Either it wasn’t as hot last year at this time during our first summer here, or I must have stayed inside more. I don’t know. Whatever the case, we still went outside a lot for playtime with a cute little boy, but definitely got my fair share of sweating like a Turkey on Thanksgiving! I learned to take my walks with Jack in the stroller FIRST thing in the morning right after breakfast to avoid the heat, and then stay inside during the middle of the day for the most part. We of course did a lot of water play, with either going to the pool, getting out the baby pool in the back yard, or playing with the hose/buckets of water/splashing in puddles. Probably the hardest thing about summer here for me personally is the fact that I am apparently one of the few people in the world that mosquitos are highly attracted to. I literally could not go outside in the evenings without a ton of bug spray on or I would get eaten alive! Luckily I was able to find a more natural bug spray without some of those harmful chemicals in it, so my getting-more-crunchy-by-the-day self was satisfied. :-)
As far as events for the month goes, James was busy with work while Jack and I did a lot of playdates with his little friends. We also took advantage of a Groupon special and visited the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Pooler as a family, which was really interesting. Towards the end of the month my parents made a quick trip down from Cincinnati, so Jack of course enjoyed himself some Grannie and Grandad time (I’m fairly certain they enjoyed themselves quite a bit as well)! We went exploring in downtown Savannah while they were here and one of our stops was the famous fountain in Forsyth Park. I realized we had never done the touristy thing of getting our picture taken in from of it, so that’s just what we did. Jack of course was not waiting to be held at that moment (was wanting to run around the fountain), hence the not so happy face. But you know what– that’s life with a toddler, so this is a perfect representation of our family right now!
