Yesterday was my 26th birthday. No, not a very exciting number, but thanks to James, turned out to be an awesome birthday! It started the night before when he handed me an envelope…
Inside were instructions for my “mission” the next day, 007 style, complete with my objective, directions, time of arrival, and supplies I should bring. I had no clue where I would be going and wasn’t allowed to search for the address online. I was ok with that though, because I don’t like to ruin surprises!
So, I put the address in my GPS yesterday morning and headed downtown. The letter even told me which parking garage to park in and included money for the cost! I used my GPS to find the exact address and discovered I was going to a salon/spa. They were ready for me when I came in and told me I would be getting a manicure and pedicure (something I don’t ever do for myself and had mentioned to James that I would like to do)!
After I was finished there, I opened another envelope that told me where to go next. I was to walk to the next location which was just a few blocks away. It turned out to be Adobo Grill, a delicious Mexican restaurant that we had not tried before (I’m always up for trying out new Mexican places). James met me there with a lovely bouquet of flowers that my cats are currently eating. ;-) The food was DELICIOUS and I was highly impressed with the table-side guacamole preparation!
He told me that because of the weather (it was 50 degrees and rainy), our plans for the afternoon were going to have to change… He had planned for us to go on a canoe trip (which I had requested), but since the weather was not cooperating we would save it for a nicer day. Instead we decided to go to the movies and see Water For Elephants (another something I had said I would like to do)!
When we got to the theater James surprised me with a cheesecake, which is my ultimate favorite kind of cake! He had already worked it out with the theater manager so that we could take the cake in the theater and eat while watching the movie, which was so much fun! I definitely felt spoiled. :-)
So all in all, despite the weather and my frizzy hair, my birthday was a blast! I would definitely say that the husband receives an A+ for planning a fun day for me and really listening, yes listening, to the things I say that I would like to do!
When we got home that evening he surprised me again with the Justin Bieber movie, which I had been wanting to see since it came out! That definitely finished the day off just right. I told him that for my birthday next year I want front row tickets to Justin’s concert. We’ll see if that happens. ;-)

Your husband is very sweet! Happy Birthday! :)
I’m forwarding this post to Chad to give him ideas of how to treat Tabitha. He’s always looking for new ideas and I think James proved himself as a creative, loving, fun husband. Blessings to you both!!
I will be with you in the front row! Isn’t that movie the best?! Glad my bro came through for you. He’s good like that. Love that you saw WFE! Good one, huh?!
