About the Oldfield River Club
Located in Okatie, South Carolina, the Oldfield River Club is a venue rich with history and traditions. The land was first assigned to Governor Robert Johnson in 1732 and changed hands several times until it was destroyed by British troops in 1781.

The plantation was rebuilt only to be destroyed once again in 1862 during the American Civil War, and ownership of the property became rather cloudy through reconstruction and into the modern era.

In 1972, Robin Carrier inherited the land. Ms. Carrier hired Savannah Architect Carl Helfrish and contractor James Artley to design a gorgeous home on the property and raised tomatoes, corn, soybeans, horses, sheep, and pigs on the 927-acre land.

In 1985, Carrier sold the plantation to a Hilton Head developer who built one of Oldfield's most distinguishable features: miles of lovely fences.

Finally, the modern age of Oldfield began in 1998 when the property was placed under contract by Crescent Resources, and in 2010, TI Oldfield Development acquired the balance of developer home sites and Oldfield's assets.

The Oldfield River Club is the hub and gathering spot of the Oldfield community. One of the oldest buildings, the River Club was designed to face toward the waters of the Okatie River, offering panoramic views of the marsh. The intimate setting is ideal for gatherings with friends and special events like weddings.
