He had skipped going to church with his family that morning, but couldn’t decline when they invited him to join them for lunch. Chinese food. Can’t pass that up. It just so happened that another family from church would be joining them that day as well. He didn’t know it then, but he would become a part of their family just a few years later.
The conversation was great between Daniel and Catherine, as they dined on egg rolls and fried rice. Bubbly and sweet, she was a “pleasant bright spot” for Daniel, who was at a low point in his life. It wasn’t until a family friend later tipped him off that she might have been checking him out at lunch that he began to think more about her. ;-) Funny thing is, she didn’t think he was an option at the time because of their age difference (she was 17 and he was 23). Nevertheless, the conversations continued at church and amongst mutual friends.
Being the gentleman that he is, Daniel asked Catherine’s father permission to take her out on a date a few months later (after she had turned 18). They hit it off. They knew right away it could be the real thing. After 7 dates they shared their first kiss. And after 3 years, they are now married.
It was such an honor to be a part of Daniel and Catherine’s wedding day. They are such a beautiful couple and so genuine in their love for each other. Oh yea, and they are fun. ;-) See for yourself!
Catherine openly admits that she is obsessed with shoes, so it was no surprise to me when I showed up on her wedding day to find these awesomely funky heels!
This is one of those dresses that needs a whole crew to get it laced up! Luckily Catherine had some awesome bridesmaids. :-) She looked absolutely STUNNING.
Gotta love some Grandma time!
Meanwhile, James was hanging out with the guys as they got ready…
Catherine and Daniel opted for a first look which was the BEST decision for their wedding day. Because the sun sets so early in December and their ceremony started after it was already dark, they would have had no naturally lit shots of the two of them together if they hadn’t planned for pictures beforehand. Also, we were able to knock out all of the bridal party and family pictures before the ceremony even began! After the ceremony it was a straight shot over to the reception.
I love this shot of Catherine’s dad escorting her to her first look with Daniel…
The first look!
After they had a few moments to chat with each other we headed outside for what are probably my favorite shots of the day. Let me just tell you– it was FR-EE-ZING!!! Like, teeth chattring-North Pole kind of cold. Ok, maybe I’m a little dramatic, but to be wearing a dress it was COLD. I am so thankful for how awesome everyone was despite the tempearature! Thank you guys for trusting us and being such good sports!!! :-)
James and I agreed on this one: favorite shot of the day below.
Catherine busted out her cowboy boots for the outdoor shots so that her feet wouldn’t be freezing. You might remember these babies from their engagement shoot.
The bridesmaid dresses are some of my favorite colors. Go jewel tones!
If we had a cutest flower girl award to give away, we might just have a winner here…
How cool is it that Daniel’s mom played the piano during the ceremony?!? Even cooler: Catherine sang a BEAUTIFUL song to Daniel that had me wiping tears off of the camera. Girl has a voice!
Side note: these gingerbread-cookie-favors were so good I wanted to take several. Don’t worry, I restrained myself. :-)
So I might have gone a little crazy with the ring shots in this post, but I just loved them all and could not decide a winner! I’d love to know what your favorite is!
Catherine’s younger sister gave the most heartfelt speech at the reception. It was too sweet.
Love this one of Catherine and her Dad…
To see a little snippet of the song Catherine sang during the ceremony, check out the video below. Keep in mind, I’m not a videographer by any means, but at least you can hear her beautiful voice. :-)

I don’t know these people but these pictures made me cry! (as did the song) Wow. I cried the most at the two photos of when they first saw each other. Well done, Jenna! They must be thrilled with their pictures!
