These are a few of my favorite things…

Here are a few of my favorite things for this month:

1) Christmas Decor: I love setting up the Christmas decorations every year! In fact, I wish the season for having Christmas decorations up lasted a little longer because I just love having Christmas lights turned on in the evenings. :-) We set up our Christmas tree last night and before we could get all of the ornaments hung, our youngest cat, Lucy, was already up IN the tree playing around! I realized it was a lost cause to hang any of our “nice” ornaments this year, or even to try and fix the branches because this is what I woke up to this morning (p.s.- angel tree topper is on the ground behind the tree):

2) Google Reader: Many of you may already know about the wonders of Google Reader, but I just discovered the awesomeness of it this summer. Basically, it allows you to read all of your favorite blogs in one window, without having to type in the address of each one every time you want to check one out. It’s great because every time a blog you follow does a new post, it shows up at the top of your window in bold print, so you know that you haven’t read it yet. I follow a ton of blogs (mostly photography related) and I love checking it every morning to see the new posts. Saves me a lot of time and makes blog reading super easy! If you have specific blogs you like to check out frequently, give Google Reader a try.

3) Griffin: When I first saw this cat outside a couple of weeks ago I thought my cat, Lucy, had escaped. Upon closer inspection I realized that this cat was a male and just happened to look very similar to Lucy, especially from a distance. We often get random cats that pass through our yard, as we live in the country, but this particular cat kept hanging around. After I realized he was sleeping under the side of our house I finally relented and started putting food out for him. It’s no secret that I’m an animal lover and that my cats are pretty much the most spoiled pets ever, but I was definitely not looking to take care of another one, as the two indoor cats we already have are plenty of work.

Well, James and I are both suckers and now this cat, Griffin, as we call him, has a couple of cat beds to choose from and we even gave him access to our garage to get away from the cold temps and snow. He hasn’t quite mastered sitting still to have a portrait taken, but we’ll keep working on it. I’m guessing he has a prosperous modeling career ahead of him. ;-)

4) Metallic prints: I’ve recently become a huge fan of metallic prints. So much so that when I finally got around to ordering prints for all of the empty picture frames in our house, I ordered ALL of the prints in a metallic finish! If you’ve never seen a picture printed on metallic paper, you’re missing out. No picture that I take of my metallic prints does them justice, so I’m not even going to try. They tend to cost just slightly more than a glossy or lustre print, but to me the result is totally worth it. (Another picture printing tip: it’s totally worth it to have professional pictures printed through your photographer, as the difference between that vs. Walmart, for example is HUGE). If you’ve had your picture taken by me sometime this year and you’re interested in trying a print from your shoot on metallic paper, shoot me an email and I’ll hook you up with a sweet deal! 5) My Vampire Husband: Ok, so my husband is obviously not really a vampire, but this picture I took of him in the woods in Michigan looks to me like he could totally be in the next Twilight movie!! Don’t you think?!? I shared it last week in my Thanksgiving post, but I just had to share again and make mention of this fact…

Happy Thursday!
