It’s definitely time for another edition of “My Favorite Things!” Here goes…
1) Jose Villa’s fine art wedding photography book: When I first saw this book back in February at WPPI I knew I had to have it. I LOVE Jose’s images and a whole book showcasing his photos?? Yes, please! It’s also a great read and has a ton of shooting/posing/lighting tips. The pictures alone are enough to make you drool!
2) Clear Finger Nail Polish: Call me crazy, but clear finger nail polish has become my new best friend over the past week. On Sunday I went with a group of people from church to feed homeless people on the outskirts of downtown Indy and many of us in the group unknowingly got attacked by chiggers. Me, well let’s just say at last count I was at 54 bites! :-) The only relief I’ve been able to find is putting the polish on all of my bites. Not sure how healthy this is, but when you are itching like crazy you’ll pretty much do anything to make it stop!
3) Canon 100 mm f/2.8 macro lens: I’ve been eyeing this lens for a while now, and after saving my $$ and renting it a few times to make sure I wanted it, I took the plunge and added it to my collection. It’s so fun to play with, as you can take insanely detailed shots with it!
Here are a couple of examples of the kind of detail shots I’ve used it for…
4) Post-it notes: Let’s just say whoever invented post-its is genius. I use them on a daily basis and would probably not remember to do anything without them. I like the multi-colored packs (I get bored with just yellow), but sometimes I feel like the neon ones are screaming at me, so this time I went with pastel. :-)
5) My new dresser/buffet thingy-ma-bob: I love old furniture and I especially love it when I get a good deal. I snagged this cool dresser at our church auction a couple of months ago and am using as a buffet/cool piece of furniture in our dining room. Everyone was asking me if I was going to re-paint it and I’m like, no way! I LOVE it the way it is. Might add a clear gloss coat eventually, but we’ll see. The best part is that I got it for only $40!
That’s all for this edition of “My Favorite Things!” Hope you enjoyed and have a great weekend!!!
