Jack’s Nursery, Part 1

After 9 months I FINALLY got around to taking some photos of Jack’s nursery! I say this post is “Part 1” because we are moving this week, so I’ll have to update with what his room looks like once we move in the new house. :-) For now, here’s a glimpse into Jack’s first nursery…Jenna Davis Photography | www.jenna-davis.com | Savannah Wedding Photographer_2171

James and I searched for gliders all over the city of Savannah and ended up purchasing this one from Target without ever even sitting in it! Risky, for sure, but luckily it worked out. (We knew we liked the Little Castle brand, so that was part of the reason we went ahead and got it). It’s a combination glider/recliner, so it’s the best of both worlds in my opinion. It’s definitely a bigger chair, so if you have a smaller room or just don’t want your rocker to take up too much space, you’d probably want to opt for something smaller. I know that it’s a chair that we’ll use for a long time (hence why we chose gender neutral colors), and I picture us piling up in it reading bedtime stories for years to come. :-)

I fell in love with this Baby Mod crib when I saw it at my friend Leah’s house and on my friend Gail’s blog. And believe it or not, it’s from Walmart! I love the fact that it is made out of solid wood, has a non-toxic finish, converts into a daybed and a toddler bed, and has extra storage underneath.

The curtains are nothing exciting, but they are room darkening ones that have come in oh-so-handy in helping to prevent early morning wake up calls when the sun comes out! I originally had some cute white ones hanging in there, but as soon as I realized how much better my baby would sleep with the room completely dark (especially during naps), I made a quick switch with these. I can’t remember for sure, but I think I found them on the clearance aisle at Walmart years ago!

It’s definitely time to take the mobile (from Target) down, seeing as how Jack is pulling himself on the sides of the crib. :-) The rocking horse is a very special handmade present from a friend of ours back in Indiana! Jack has recently begun to enjoy going for a “ride” on it.

I bought the giraffe print from Etsy and made the other two prints myself. Frames are from good ‘ol Walmart.

These adorable letters were another handmade gift from a friend of ours! Love them.

It took me waaaay too long to decide on a rug, but I finally found this faux fur one from Home Decorators Collection that I thought fit perfectly. Jenna Davis Photography | www.jenna-davis.com | Savannah Wedding Photographer_9Some of you may recognize this dresser from a DIY project that we did a couple of years ago (it used to be mustard yellow). Lamp is from Target (can you tell I like that store?), and the changing pad cover is from Etsy (seller is no longer listed on there, but there are several others who make these).

I found the white shelves at Target and yes, they are the kind that you have to put together piece, by piece, by piece, by piece, etc. Let’s just say I was quite exhausted by the time they were put together, but that might have been because I was 9 months pregnant (I bought them and decided to set them up myself while James was at work). Needless to say, I went into labor just a couple days later. :-)

When I saw this wall decal from Wall Pops with Jack’s name in it, I knew it would be the perfect item to display over his crib. :-)

I have to note that the shoe rack over the door for storage idea came from my friend Abby! I have one on the inside of the closet too and it has worked great to store bibs, burp cloths, shoes, and anything else “little” that I can’t find a great spot for.
