When I first started this personal photo project back in 2011, we took all of our monthly photos with my DSLR (fancy) camera, usually using a self-timer. It was fairly easy to grab a photo of James and I to remember our month by. We often spent a good amount of time getting the camera set up and making sure the shot was just right.
When Jack came along in 2013, it became slightly more difficult to get the photos done, and I even gave in and used an iPhone shot a couple of times. Now with the four of us I am already realizing that we will be lucky to get photos of all of us in good moods, so we will take what we can get! For this month’s photo I had someone else grab a shot with my phone while we were already looking spiffy for another event (Lord knows I don’t change out of my yoga pants most days).
September was a great month for our little family, while also a bit crazy. I started to really learn how to best manage both boys on my own and got us going in a routine during the day. I’ve been trying to spend a good amount of one-on-one time with Jack while Josh is sleeping and do some “special” activities with him as well. While he sometimes gets a little jealous when I’m holding Josh, Jack is overall adjusting well to his new role and is very sweet to his brother. :-)
The big “event” for our us this month was Josh coming down with viral meningitis right around 4 weeks old. I noticed one afternoon that he felt rather warm and took his temperature. As soon as I saw the 102.8 on the thermometer, I knew we had to head to the hospital. We ended up having to stay there for 3 days while the doctors ran tests and monitored him. A newborn having a fever is no joke! It was a rough week, watching my little baby go through all of that, staying in the hospital to care for him, and being away from Jack. It was such a relief when we were able to go home and get back to normal. Josh is doing great now and bounced back quickly after his sickness!
Some other fun things from this month…
